Itinerary

We have carefully planned out each day to give you the best possible experience. This tour to Wae Rebo traditional village is full of adventure from the journey on bumpy roads through the south coast and then ended with 5 km trekking in the rainforest. However, it is all paid off after being in the UNESCO's cultural heritage conservation.

Facilities

This Wae Rebo Tour as an adventure tour. You will spend most of the time in the car, trekking in the rain forest, sleeping in basic accommodations, and eating simple and local meals. Driving on the windy road, lots of ups and downs and some bumpy roads especially the road to Dintor. At Wae Rebo Lodge, Dintor you will sleep in a non-AC room with a non-shower bathroom but shower using a dipper. Because it is located in the middle of rice fields, don’t be surprised if there are some friends in the room such as geckos or insects, but here I am sure you will like their food because it is simple but delicious. For Wae Rebo village, you will share a room with other visitors who are also there when you visit. Because there is no limit on the number of visitors, you will most likely be accommodated by many people sleeping in one room with a maximum of 30 people. You will be provided with pillows, blankets and sleeping mattresses. As for food, you will eat rice, omelet and vegetables as the main food, including coffee or tea as a drink.

This morning you will be picked up by your guide and driver from your hotel in Labuan Bajo to begin the journey to Dintor on the south coast of Flores. You will reach Cancar  to see the spider web rice field and then eat lunch at authentic East Nusa Tenggara se’i babi smoked pork. Then continue on, following the coast line (a slow and bumpy drive) to reach the small village of Dintor. There you sill spend the night in the Wae Rebo Lodge, set in the midst of a paddy field with views across the fields and the sea to Mules Island. Dinner tonight is at the lodge. Tour start at 8 AM

Today you are able to visit the beautiful, remote village of Wae Rebo. You begin your adventure (taking just an overnight bag) with a short drive up the bottom slopes of the mountain to the village of Denge, from where you hop on the back of a motorcycle for the 10-minute ride further up the mountain to post 1, the starting point for your 5 km hike up the mountain to Wae Rebo. You will be following a stone-laid path, and then a well-trodden forest path to reach the village, but be prepared for a tough uphill hike with sturdy hiking boots or walking shoes, (and rain gear depending on the season) Upon arrival at the lovely village of Wae Rebo, you will be welcomed in a traditional Wae Lu’u ceremony that requests permission, and provides blessings from the village ancestors. Following the ceremony you will have to one of the village houses for lunch. Your afternoon is then free for further exploring, visiting local homes, learning more about their customs and traditions, and just enjoying the beauty of this amazing location. Overnight will be in one of Wae Rebo’s cone-shaped traditional home, shared with other visitors.

If you wish rise early to catch the beautiful sunrise, and then after breakfast, head back down the mountain to the lodge where you leave your main bag, and take the opportunity for a chance to freshen-up, before continuing your journey with the drive to Labuan bajo. You will have it prepared ‘to go’, and then continue on to Nangalili beach for a picnic by the sea and have lunch here. From Nangalili, you will drive to Labuan Bajo and tour ends.
