Flores Adventure Tour

This Flores overland tour is categorized as an adventure tour yet is designed for an immerse culture. You will start the trip from east to west, trekking in the rain forest, sleeping in basic accommodations, and eating simple and local meals. You will drive on the windy road, lots of ups and downs and some bumpy roads especially the road to Dintor.  At Wae Rebo Lodge, Dintor you will sleep in a non-AC room with a non-shower bathroom but shower using a bath ladle. Because it is located in the middle of rice fields, don’t be surprised if there are some friends in the room such as geckos or insects, but here I am sure you will like their food because it is simple but delicious. For Wae Rebo village, you will share a room with other visitors who are also there when you visit. Because there is no limit on the number of visitors, you will most likely be accommodated by many people sleeping in one room with a maximum of 30 people. You will be provided with pillows, blankets and sleeping mattresses. As for food, you will eat rice, omelet and vegetables as the main food, including coffee or tea as a drink.

Day 1 Bali-Ende-Moni

Our Guide and driver will pick you up at Ende airport to start the trip to Moni for a one and half hour drive. On the way to Moni, you will stop in Detusoko for the rice field view and enjoy the coffee from the local café. You will stay overnight in Moni, a last town before getting to the Kelimutu crater. Dinner and 0vernight in Moni, MoniDay 2 Moni-Bajawa (168 km 5h 30 minutes drive)     

Day 2        Moni-Bajawa

Right at 6:00 am you will drive to the parking area where you will start to trek to the summit of Mount Kelimutu (1600 mbl)  to see the spectacular view of 3 colored lakes of Kelimutu..  After Kelimutu, you will be back to the hotel for a shower and breakfast. You will leave Moni for Bajawa with stops at Wologai traditional village and then to  Blue Stone Beach  for lunch. From here you will continue on to drive to Mengeruda Soa to bathe in the hot spring and then check in at the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 3:       Bajawa – Ruteng

After breakfast at the hotel, you will visit Bena traditional village and then to Belaraghi traditional village. From there, you head to Aimere, a village where most of the people rely much on “arak” alcoholic drinks as their main income. From Aimere, you will head to Siquarra Restaurant for lunch. From the restaurant, tour continues to Ruteng for dinner and
overnight.

Day 4        Ruteng-Dintor

After breakfast at the hotel, you will visit Ruteng traditional market and then to Cancar to see Spider web rice field, a cultural heritage to Manggaraian tribe as a system of distributing land. From Cancar, you will head to the south part of Ruteng to Dintor, a closer village before trekking to Wae Rebo. Lunch in La Nusa se’i babi (smoked pork).  dinner, and overnight in Wae Rebo Lodge, Dintor.

Day 5        Dintor – Wae Rebo You will leave after breakfast at to Denge, a last village before trekking to Wae Rebo. Once you arrive in Denge, you get on motorbikes to post 1 trekking for 5 km along the rainforest. The track in the forest has been made specifically for walkers, which is quite challenging especially when it rains, but with good preparation, excellent physical conditions coupled with facilities for trekking are fulfilled then the trip will promise an interesting experience. When you arrive at the village of Wae Rebo, you will participate in the Wae Lu’u ritual as a permission and welcome ceremony. After that, you will have lunch provided by locals to Wae Rebo. You will enjoy the beauty of the Manggarai traditional village and also the amazing local wisdom. In the afternoon, you can enjoy cold mountain water before dinner and overnight at one of Wae Rebo’s cone shaped traditional houses shared with other visitors.

Day 6 Wae Rebo – Labuan Bajo

After breakfast at the village Wae Rebo, you will leave for Labuan Bajo through the south coast. You will take away a lunch and have it on the beach side at Nangalili Beach and after that you will drive to Labuan Bajo, a main entrance to Komodo National Park. Tour ends

 What to bring:

  1.     Casual clothing, jacket or sweater.
  2.   Proper Trekking shoes.
  3.   Camera with enough memory card and replacement battery.
  4.   Some medicines for car sick (the road is windy in Flores)
  5.   Enough cash.
  6.   Mosquito spray.
  7.   Sun glasses.          
  8.   Sun lotion.
  9.   Towel.
  10. Portable flash light.
  11. Rain coat      
  12. Earplug (it is used when sleeping in Wae Rebo cone shape to avoid snoring)
